Monkeyhead nebula.jpg

John Slinn

The Monkeyhead nebula is located in Orion. It has taken me since February til now to get all the data to complete the image due to the weather where I live.
I finished the image earlier this month. The image was captured using my APM 140 F7 ED telescope and William Optics AFR-IV 0.8x reducer. Camera used was a QSI6120 fitted with Astrodon 3nm filters.

Hubble palette scheme using 12 x 600 sec HA, 12 x 600 sec OIII, 18 x 1200 sec SII.
Calibration and stacking using Deep Sky Stacker.

Final processing using Photoshop.
