  1. I am fairly new to astrophotography but I find that with my older 12 bit Canon EOS 1000D (modified) I have to use ISO 1600 otherwise the objects are just too faint. I found the following very helpful. https://www.astropix.com/html/astrophotography/settings.html I am yet to master dark and flat frames so I tend to use dithering and also take BIAS frames. I am not sure if there are any set rules on setting the exposure...I think it's best to experiment on the night by making sure the histogram is approximately 1/3 of the way from the left hand side.
  2. Here's two hours on M31... hopefully I can add to it this month 🀞🀞🀞
  3. Same here variable cloud up until midnight and then thick fog rolled in. I got a couple of hours so better than nothing.
  4. wow I can’t wait to see the final image πŸ˜€
  5. oh no...my forecast says increasing fog so I’m not too hopeful
  6. Working on M31 tonight. M27 had gone out of view by the time the moon had set so moving onto a new target. There does however appear to be some fog in these hills tonight πŸ™„
  7. Shame I only managed 1.5 hours as this was looking promising...
  8. Amazing detail, another stunning image πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘
  9. It's looking better now, I will probably have to bin the first 5 subs
  10. I think I might have been a bit impatient waiting for darkness πŸ˜‚
  11. Yes I was quite surprised, the colour is coming through nicely...not sure if the aperture mask has made much of a difference yet. Will probably have to wait until I have processed the data and taken a closer look to decide.
