ribuck
Hi all, new to the site and new to the world of imaging with Newtonian's. I've done some imaging in the past with a 102mm doublet, but i recently purchased a 10" Quattro and boy was it a steep learning curve coming from a small refractor. So here is my 1st attempt at imaging with a Newt, and it still needs a lot more data to bring our the detail in the arms. Masked stretch in pixinsight messed up the cores of the bright stars, so i still have that to fix, but it's a start and i'm fairly happy with it as a 1st attempt at imaging with a newt. ribuck
Thanks all, i'm not completely happy with it yet, but it's a start. hopefully i can capture a bit more data to bring out more details in the arms before the season completely runs out @peter shah Many thanks for kind comment. I have seen some of your stunning work on UKAI - Would love to see your processing workflow sometime. Cheer, Rich. 1

Very nice image, great detail too. To avoid the blown out stars, try doing a partial stretch with ArcsinhStretch, then finish the stretch with HistogramTransformation. If the stars start to blow, increase the high range in HistogramTransformation to 1.1, this is also a good trick to use when increasing saturation etc in curves. Try keeping the white point at 0.9 or thereabouts.
Vicki
I think this is so pretty, some really lovely detail, well done. I miss imaging with my 5" newt just for the nice fov.

Thank you all, for the kind comments. it still needs a lot of work and tweaking, but at least it's showing that the 10" Quattro has a lot more resolving power than the 102mm frac under the right conditions. In terms of the issues with the cores being blown out, after a lot of testing tonight, i've traced it back to an issue with my calibration, so just need to have fiddle with that to see if i can improve things.
TerryMcK
It looks good for a first time out with a new scope.
MarkAR
A great start. Looks quite pink on my screen, would that be Ha ?
ribuck
No, i've not added any Ha to it yet. I need to do more work to adjust the colours - just need to sort the saturated stars first, as you cant apply colour correctly to saturated stars.
