Popular Post peter shah
I just finished grabbing the data for this one on Saturday night...Its the first data set from the new camera..... M20 The Triffid Nebula, Imaged with the 17in Planewave and FLI Kepler KL4040 ....Its taken a little time to get my head around this camera but I think I'm finally there with it now. Exposure time was only 1hr each in LRGB, luminance were 60s subs, and the RGB were all 120s.... Imaged at 20 degrees so not the best for such a long focal length but Im still very pleased with the result. Thanks for looking Peter Shah 11
Carastro
Really lovely Peter, one of my favourite DSOs. Is this one of the telescopes you set up in Spain? Carole

DaveS
Fantastic image Peter, and a beast of a 'scope. Does the Planewave use encoder guiding like ASA?
Marmot
Whenever I look at the images that are produced by you folks who do AP I am always amazed by the colours that are there. It just shows that all you have to do to find beauty is look for it........even in the depths of space. well done.

It is a beast the whole kit is nearly 200Kg...so my back knows it to. There is the absolute encoder version but this one has incremental encoders so It has to home every time it powers on.... but it slews so fast its scary If you watch the video you will notice how silent it is too. DaveS
Ah, yes. The "cheapo" (Yeah, right lol) DDM 60 uses incremental encoders so has to homefind after power on, but the slightly less cheapo DDM 85 has absolute encoders so is ready to go on power up.

Love the detail and colours Thank you David ..... I found while colour balancing, the blue reflection nebula can loose its punch with all of the reddish pink around ..... It took a couple of goes before I was happy..
