TerryMcK
Just interested in what publications people read. I have the following: a subscription to Astronomy Now periodic downloads from Amateur Astrophotography Magazine I have recently cancelled Sky At Night IOS app renewal although my subscription is ok for the next few months. I like Astronomy Now as it is quite wide ranging. Amateur Astrophotography magazine is a round up of the freely available stuff on their website and is interesting. It is a one off £10 which gives you access all past and future downloads. I got fed up with Sky At Night Magazine as it seems to have lost its way. DaveS
I have a subscription to Astronomy Now but have been getting increasingly annoyed with it since the monthly sky guides have forgotten the imagers. Time was at least the object of the month would have a "how to image it" section, but now it's all about gawping, sorry observing with nothing for those who take the trouble to image. And just to rub salt in there was a five page spread on the Caldwell Catalogue which was just observing. Nightspore
There are people not interested in astrophotogaphy. It's nice for those of us 'who don't take the trouble' to discuss and read about just observing.
Carbon Brush
I gave up on Sky At Night magazine some years ago. Various reasons. But basically only finding a small number of pages each month that were of of interest. I did subscribe to a web based astronomy news service. But they let their email list get compromised and I had to block the address due to the amount of junk. These days I use a mixture of notifications from astronomy sites, NASA, space weather, etc. to find things of interest. No single source and no 'I have subscribed for nn years'. I've no problem catering for the observers, but don't forget the imagers in the process. At the moment (And for a considerable time previously) it has been ONLY about observing, with the imagers totally ignored.

As I don't image it seems to me that most astronomy magazines tend to cater to the 'snappers' and tend to ignore people who actually physically look through their eyepieces. I've always thought most magazines tend to ignore visual observers these days.
DaveS
I don't know, maybe it's just AN (Which was the point of my first post) but the only regular slot is Nik Szymanek's Imaging Master Class. There's plenty of observing articles in regular slots. I just wish the monthly sky guides didn't ignore the imagers completely. for the same reason I've stopped buying their yearbook, as there's nothing in there for imagers. Nightspore
AN sounds good for me, although I can't find a Kindle version. I don't think The Sky at Night is that bad though.
PaulB
I subscribe to both Astronomy Now and Sky at Night. I used to take Sky and Telescope, but stopped taking this publication because it was getting thinner, and thinner. And it isn't as good now (in my own opinion)
David
I have a subscription to ASTRONOMY NOW as well as Astronomy Technology Today which is focussed more on Kit. I have let sky at night lapse though.
jcj380
Aside from "Sky and Telescope", I subscribe to "Sky at Night". Being in the US though, my "S@N" issues are arriving between 15 and 30 days late - I received the June issue yesterday. But they did send an email several months ago warning there could be delays due to COVID and most content is still useful. I really like their equipment reviews. "S&T" was purchased by the American Astronomical Association and the content has improved a good deal IMO. I pick up "Astronomy Now" occasionally at a local bookstore as well as "Sky News" (Canada). Online I read phys.org, astrobites.org, and arxiv.org. Edited June 18, 2021 by jcj380
