KevS - RIP

Recommended Posts

This morning Carole contacted me to advise that sadly last Wednesday Kev had a heart attack to which is did not recover.

Many people on forums never get to meet, we can only surmise as to someone's Character and well being, having initially been aware of Kev on another forum, he started the original Anyone Imaging Tonight and it was because of the success of that thread this this forum came into being.

I always found Kev to be interesting and respectful of any Astronomer, whether a beginner or a skilled hand.

My thoughts and condolences to Angela his wife and family, yet another star to shine amongst the heavens!

If anyone else would like to add to this thread, then please do and I will in due course arrange for this to be printed and sent to Angela.

RIP Kev!

Hi John, thanks for posting this. I too was shocked and saddened to here this dreadful news from Carole and like you I also only knew Kev through this and other astro forums, but we chatted a bit that way, including his early warnings of cloud headed my way down the east coast and over the North Sea. He also put me on to the FlightRadar24 app to monitor/track military aircraft out of RAF Coningsby, whose flightpath frequently took them overhead at his north Lincs location, then sometimes back round over the north Norfolk coast region.

My sincere condolences to Angela and family, who will be devastated at their loss :classic_sad:

Yes I was truly shocked to receive Angela's E mail yesterday.  She has asked me to help her sell Kev's Astronomy equipment and I and a few others have been helping her to identify some of the kit and value it.

I will post up a separate thread as regards one of the telescopes we need a bit of advice on.

Kev was such a friendly and enthusiastic guy, such a shame.  My sincere condolences to Angela and the rest of the family too.

The Anybody Playing Tonight thread on here is his legacy.

Truly saddening news. I never had the pleasure of meeting Kev face to face but we chatted online. I always found him to be very thoughtful of others and a respected and valuable member of our community.

My sincerest condolences to his wife Angela and his family and friends.

Rest peacefully and well Kev.

As this thread has been resurrected, I just wanted to add that Angela (Kev's widow) managed to successfully sell all of Kev's equipment through one of the 2nd hand traders I put her in touch with - ENS optical who also collected all the equipment.  She said she preferred to sell as a job lot than mess around selling stuff individually.
