PeterBolt
I have been playing around with this plugin - works very well with nice results: Take a look at: https://picture-instruments.com/products/index.php?id=41&back=
Astrobdlbug
I saw this APF-R tool come up on one of my google news astronomy feeds , so I downloaded it last night - it cost £25 through the adobe marketplace - I havent really investigated what it is using to acheive the sharpening - but as Peter said above, initial impression is that it does give a marked improvement to the image definition. I will upload a comparison using my narrowband Jellyfish Nebula later It may turn out to be one of these 'marmite' processing tools, like Topaz De_noise - I happen to think that given the general quality of the skies we image under in UK any processing assistance is welcome. Be interesting to see if we see this being used more widely as we get into nebula season under astro-dark skies later in the year, Bryan
PeterBolt
For me it gave a more natural end result compared to topaz with less artifacts. You can tell that this has been specifically developed for astro images. Edited June 19, 2021 by PeterBolt
Astrobdlbug
For a rough comparison, I have below my original process that used Pi and PS and some topaz Denoise and then I applied the new APF-R plugin - the version posted is the minimum from selction 1 on the APF-R control panel ORIGINAL APF-R Processed

But I think the APF-R version is an enhancement. Maybe the plug-in makes more of a difference to my level of image processing 😂 Edited June 20, 2021 by PeterBolt
