July 2021 - Anybody playing tonight

Recommended Posts

Not doing an awful lot at the moment, as having been imaging for over 10 years, and living in Bortle 8, I have run out of suitable targets I can do from home until I can get to darker skies.  Plus the weather of course.

Hoping to get to Davey T's place this new Moon (we did this once before), as he has Bortle 6 skies which are obviously better than mine, but all depends on the weather.

The weather has been quite kind over the 10 days or so, except for last night. I don't think I missed a night without getting at least an hour of imaging done. The light and full moon was obviously a problem, but I managed 23 hours of data on the Cygnus Wall, and 3 hours on the Crescent nebula.

As Carole above I didn’t do so much last month but not because I am short of target.. nights are cloudy and other than watching tutorial and reading stuff I didn’t manage to do so much.

I hope for a better weather in the next days... at the end we are not asking for so much I think!

Wednesday July 7th looks to be clear here after all the rain started from today Saturday onwards.

I’m going to aim to dig out the night scopes and take a few snaps.

Getting ready to set up, the satellite images show clear skies all night, with just a few small random clouds. Need 7 hours of OIII to complete my data for the Cygnus Wall. With luck will get it in the next couple of nights.

Brian

Good luck Brian ... here just the usual clouds.. I can keep reading a book

Clear skies here for the last couple of nights and for the next couple as well so imaging a galaxy cluster in Pavo around IC4765. Everything working well, no dramas just very cold ( for Australia anyway). Thanks goodness for red wine and banana bread.

Do you find ClearOutside works ok in your location Brian? Here I find it is more frequently wrong and almost unusable for me. I’m still reliant upon ScopeNights as that seems to be more reliable although sadly now it only works in the UK and USA.

It is looking to be clear for part of Wednesday and much of Thursday this week.

Tbh Terry I find all forecast sites unreliable to an extent. I use Wundermap a lot, at this minute we have thick cloud covering the whole area, according to the satellite. Outside it's a different story, it's clear blue sky. Even the clouds are moving in a different direction than the satellite is showing.

typical. They used to say in the Lake District if you don’t like the weather now then just wait 5 minutes.
