TerryMcK
Anybody know a quick way to batch edit the FITS header? I took some subs last night and forgot the FILTER to be added to the header on 16 of them. Needless to say WBPP errors. I found a website https://www.theastrogazer.com/home/fits-header-tool which supposedly is some freeware but that program has a bitmining program embedded within it. Looks like this can be done in Pixinsight by using a script, or the image container. https://pixinsight.com/forum/index.php?threads/batch-edit-fits-headers.9389/
TerryMcK
I've actually edited the FITS header within PI as there were so few. I missed off adding the filter within the acquisition stage of EKOS. I saw that script and installed it but it didn't seem to do what I wanted but I must admit I only gave it a cursory glance. Maybe I need to look a bit closer 🙂 Somebody on another forum said they had done it with a program called FITSwork https://www.fitswork.de/software/softw_en.php which I downloaded and it looks interesting. Can you save file naming in your profile as in SGP, similar to the setup in the image? Once applied to a profile you can forget all about file naming, unless you want to add something else, like focuser position etc.
TerryMcK
Yes the filesnames can follow a similar format to SGP I have them set like this "veil_Light_H_Alpha_360_secs_2021-08-24T21-57-00_003.fits" but you can add many things to the filename like temperature for instance. The WBPP script uses the FITS header to separate lights into their respective filters but I forget to add the filter to the header in EKOS during capture 😞 . However I have also used the grouping keywords too recently. That was great for doing mosaics which I named PART1, PART2 etc. So I think I can use that to separate the files with H_Alpha in the name too. Several ways to do it. However if I had got in right in the acquisition stage it would have been better LOL.
TerryMcK
I've just found another way to add the lights with no filter within the header into WBPP. Click Add Custom and it allows you to state the Image type (Light etc) and the Filter name So all is not lost and I don't have to edit the FITS header if I do it wrong again!!! There is also another way. Do the calibration manually. 😀

Just let Pixinsight upload them and calibrate straight onto the PC, saves a lot of time.
