Popular Post Dmack1
So, after 4 months of clouds and/or no astro-dark I finally got 2 nights back to back. But of course full moon! Nights are still short so this became a 2 Panel Mosaic each panel with about 3.5 hours of 180s subs. SW 80ED, ASI2600mc, L-eNhance C&C Appreciated. paul
Very nice panel indeed and you managed to extract a lot in 3.5hrs A bit ambitious for me at this stage. If the gods go my way tonight I may try for the broom with my 70mm and 1600mm- I'm expecting gremlins as its a while since I used that combo.
Dmack1
Thanks Paul. Yes I'm pretty pleased considering the short duration but the ASI2600MC is a fantastic camera in terms of noise and sensitivity. Good luck with your broom. Its promised good here tonight too so I'm mulling over my options and thinking to try the elephant Trunk. Not decided yet. I know well what you mean about Gremlins - after 4 months off i was not too sure which cable went where 😂 Edited August 27, 2021 by Dmack1
Astrobdlbug
very nice indeed - I am hoping to get second panel on Eastern Veil to mosaic with the Western Veil I captured so long ago…. Skies look favourable this weekend again so I’ll get out with ASI2600 and dual band filter. when I posted up my western veil panel it was noted that I had left it quite dark. Wonder if your mosaic could be lifted as there’s probably some head room there based on the depth you get with ASI2600MC or did the full moon affect your subs so you can’t get improved contrast in the post processing - either way still a great FOV and good level of detail Bryan
TerryMcK
Great work - hoping mine turns out as well as yours. The Veil wide field is my current target with the newly acquired RedCat 51. I've got about 5.5 hours of decent Ha up to now. Just got to decide whether to shoot OIII or SII as the moon is still 70% going down over the next few days to less than 50% It may be cloudy of course and then it doesn't really matter!
Padraic M
Really nice! Not sure I'm 'brave' enough to capture the Veil. It always reminds me of the creature in Alien and would scare the *** out of me at night! That 2600 is getting very good press.

Yes the moon was full and on the first panel there was a bit of high haze so I think the L-enhance was pretty much at its limit and there's just not the contrast there between sky and faint neb I think. What dual band do you use? David

Dmack1
I had a pair of Tom cats creep up to my fence and start a quarrel the other night during my PA. I nearly wet myself and knocked the PA out by about 20 degrees.🤣

I’ve got a 2” Optolong L-extreme I did use it around full moon when we had about an hour of clear skies, but found as you have that there was a high haze and the contrast was very poor - so I did get about an hour and made the mosaic but no where near a post-able image - so waiting for better skies and less moon - tonight’s forecast has reduced the window to very little So pinning hopes that sat/sun delivers a few hours

MarkAR
Well done, nice level of star reduction to bring out the nebulosity.
