Popular Post AstronomyUkraine
This is an HOO two panel mosaic of Sh2-132, or the Lion nebula. I managed to grab 5 hours of each filter on both panels, unfortunately I still need more data on my SII filter. Ideally I want another few hours on the Ha and OIII too, but the weather looks very unpromising next week. This is my first mosaic, and despite making a few errors, and Pixinsight refusing to solve the images, I got there in the end by using the Star Alignment/GradientMergeMosaic method. just wish I could have got the framing a little better too. Finally managed to grab some SII data to add to the mix. The first image is a straight up SHO, the second image is an SHO/dynamic SHO mix. paul
I second Peter's comments, some lovely detail coming out with those two prominent zones. It will be interesting to see how much Sii impacts the look.

TerryMcK
A difficult one this is. I love the blues in the second one but like the golds in the third one . I’m stumped.
paul
All three are great images, with the final two the Sii adds the extra rich dimension to the left of the image particularly. It looks a tricky one to process as it's a very mixed-up cloud. I like both final results. For me the second image has greater apparent detail on the left and richer colouration, the third is easier on the eye but perhaps has lost a little contrast but could be my bias for not mixing signals. The tird aacentuates that swoop cyan in the middle which contrasts nicely with the richer reds/oranges. Will have to see if I can come up with a different combination.

The head end of the image has a lot of background nebulosity, making the image look as though it's not been processed properly. The backend of the third one needs a little more doing to it, to bring out the OIII signal more.

I like a little out of each image, but there are so many colour combinations it's hard to choose one.
AstronomyUkraine
Final rendition, for now. This is an SHO/dynamic SHO mix, with more emphasis on the dynamic SHO to produce more red/gold colour in the head.

Wyvern
Fantastic finished images! You’ve inspired me to try this one myself.

You still have time to capture the nebula. You can image until dawn if you have a good view NE. You should fit all of it in your William Optics scope, I had to do a two panel mosaic on this one. MarkAR
More excellent worth there Brian, well done. Not sure why it's called the Lion but I'm definitely seeing King Kong on the right. 🤣 1

My framing isn't great on this one, but I assume the head is too the left, and the tail is to the right. I see King Kong too. 😁 Edited October 15, 2021 by AstronomyUkraine
