New Harmonic drive Mount from Pegasus Astro

It looks like Pegasus Astro have joined the harmonic drive market. Their version will be coming on the market in April 2022, the same time as the ZWO version. The details are quite sketchy at the moment, but competition is always good for the consumer.

Wait for a bus for ages and then several turn up all at once. Skywatcher will be next.

Complete with their famous alt/az adjustment bolts. 😅

I'm guessing that there is a harmonic drive subsystem that is now available from an ODM and they are building it in to custom bodies. That's a lot of software control to be independently developed in multiple locations all coming to market in a similar time frame.

I'm always dubious when I see a product released that has similar specs to one already on the market, but less than half the price. Either the established mount is overpriced, ie Rainbow Astro, or the new mounts, Pegasus and ZWO are cutting corners.

Same with Astrodon and Chroma and now followed by Baader and Antlia and Optlong, scopes isn't any far as well, so i am not surprised it happened to mounts, so anyone start a new technology or idea increase the price so so high as sky until someone else getting into the game with half price or much less price.

I bought APS-C imx571 cameras both OSC and mono much much cheaper than ZWO/QHY models, so why not.

I really wish or just hope that the new harmonic mount either from ZWO or this from Pegasus can handle a scope i am planning to buy in future that rated in about 35-40lbs [so let's say about 15-20kgs] with good guiding up to 5-10minutes if possible.
