Popular Post Dmack1
This is first light for my new Sharpstar EDPH II At this time of year it had to be orion but I wanted something different to M42 and the Horsehead so poking about on Stellarium I found that this pairing fitted nicely. I could get Horsehead, Flame, M78 and enough of Barnards loop to see the curve so thats how I set it up. I knew from the start I'd only get a very short window before clouds came in ( otherwise I'd have been on the witches head) and it turned out that I got only 1 hr 45 mins. So this was; Sharpstar 61 EDPH II, ASI 2600mc, L-Pro filter. 35 x 180s (Yes thats 1hr 45mins 😃) I found there was a gradient which was really difficult to remove without losing much of the faint dust and Ha so I tried the gradient removal in APP (above was DBE in PI). It gave a bit more Ha and a slightly different final result, but really there is not much to draw between them; As always C&C appreciated.
paul
That's a lot of data to pull out in 1:45! I like this pairing, its a refreshing take on the area. The second version definitely has more detail. I'm not a fan of aggressive star reduction but perhaps a little more for a fair comparison? Dmack1
Thanks for the feedback Paul. Yes the 2600mc continues to astonish me with what it can do with such short integrations and with this little scope I think its going to get me some nice images. Its a pity we are going into galaxy season! Yes its a different FOV but I really like it. I may try a slight star reduction on the second - see how it looks. Thanks again
