Popular Post Dmack1
I really like these two Galaxies. They are a perfect pair' Its becoming a thing to try to show the IFN around these Galaxies and while, if I'm honest, I dont really like those images as much as just the galaxies in a dark field, I hought I should give it a try. So this is about 7 hours with the ED 80, ASI2600mc with the L-pro filter. First the normal processing. The background is a bit darker than I'd usually go for but that darned IFN just kept lurking. even with this you can see it to the left of the image. Then my first attempt to show off IFN. Its interesting, but its a bit noisy, I think that much more time is needed to do this well but as a first go i think its OK.
ApophisAstros
Like the Nebula in the second image , nicely brought out. Noise is not a problem. With Pixinsight ACDNR or Photoshop with Annies Actions Noise Reduction or Space Noise Reduction. Roger
Sterrenland
I like both versions to be honest...each of them brings something different to the subject. I love your processing of the galaxies...I need to do some research about the best way to do them in Pixinsight as I often struggle to bring out the detail and colour. Yours are spot on. Any tips very welcome!

Any tips very welcome! I find that using ArcsinhStretch in PI does a really nice job of keeping the colour as you stretch. For detail I use very careful stretches in CurvesTranformation, some sharpening with MLT, and then careful use of LHE. Hope that helps.

TerryMcK
I prefer the second image but they are both good.

MartinS
Very nice, I tend to prefer Galaxy images in a darkish background which helps to highlight the dust lane and Galaxy detail.

Thank you, the map says bortle 4 but there is a ruddy great sodium street light on my north perimiter - hence the L-pro.
