Evostar 80ED

I had a heavy dew night and failed to turn on my heater. So I'd like to give the lens on my SW Evostar 80ED a light clean. But I don't know how to get the dew shield off. Its this years model if that helps. Anyone know?

I think this is the same setup as the 80ED DS-Pro but a different name?

On the 80ED DS-Pro, the dew shield is a push fit with a felt collar inside when it goes over the end lens.  Mine can be a little stiff but comes off with a bit of rotation... be careful though, if you rotate the wrong way it can actually unscrew the end element!  So if it's a bit hard to pull off, rotate clockwise (when looking down the front of the scope!)

If I were in your shoes I would leave it well alone.  A bit of dew residue on your front element won't affect viewing or imaging.  You could end up scratching the coatings or worse and thus have irreversible light scattering artefacts to live with.

Think I just put my hand inside mine and cleaned it.

?thanks Carole, I think you may have smaller hands than my "great muckle scottish mits" as my mother once called them. I'd hate to get stuck ? But I'm thinking of trying that but maybe with some sort of extension.

I have tried shifting it as per @jiberjaber above but its rock solid. I'm going to look at it again and see if it REALLY needs cleaning because I'm also a bit like @Owmuchonomy above and would be concerned about making things worse.

I've rocked mine before to help it off. Helps if the scope is secured to something like the mount & pier for example...
