guy_ak
Hello from (very rainy) Fairbanks! I'm about to retire from my job and recently discovered astrophotography. The first time I took a photo of Orion Nebula with my cellphone through the eyepiece of my telescope, I got hooked. I thought it was so amazing that from something very faint you see through the eyepiece, one could come up with something so beautiful and colorful. Now, a few months later (and many $100 later), I'm starting to get more serious, except... it is now summer in these northern latitudes, so it doesn't get dark at night any more... Ugh! I guess there's still the moon 😄 I'm looking forward to interact with you people, and I have a lot of questions! Cheers, Guy
Nightspore
Hello Guy, welcome to the Yard. Bear in mind it's nearly 01:00 British Summer Time for the vast majority of forum members here at the moment. I assume that's a few hours ahead of Alaskan time. Here's a target for your camera! Clear skies.
guy_ak
Hi, Yes, it is 16:00 here 😄 Thanks for the target! I'm looking forward to check it out... as soon as the rain clouds go away, which according to the weather forecast, is not going to be any time soon. Clear skies and good night to you!

It's First Quarter on Monday. Which is a good lunar phase as the terminator shadows highlight quite a few features.

Carastro
Welcome to back yard Astro forum. There are a number of imagers on here. Make sure to get good advice before buying any equipment to make sure you buy the right thing. The skies must be wonderful where you are, plus you get the aurora, but of course you do have to contend with the light nights in the summer months.
