steviebee
l have just started to dip my toe into AP. l used my Celestron CPC800 for the first time in March on Orion's Nebula. OK not the best scope for AP and it was a tad out of focus but that was due to the focal reducer l used. The correct Celestron one has now been purchased. That is kept in France under Bortle 4 skies. l have the Celestron 6SE here in the UK and have just purchased the new Skywatcher Evolux 62ED for AP. Quick question until funds allow for a decent mount would the Nexstar mount be OK to use with the Evolux? l have an unmoded Canon 1000d and a Zwo ASI224MC. Many thanks in advance for any replies. TerryMcK
Hi Steve. Alt-At mounts like the Nexstar are not really suitable for astrophotography as you will get field rotation. Have a look at this article from Celestron which explains the phenomenon https://www.celestron.com/blogs/knowledgebase/what-is-field-rotation-how-does-it-affect-my-scope-s-viewing-and-imaging Fine for looking at/ imaging the moon which only entails having short exposures.
