Update on my situation

As most of you know, I had to leave Ukraine in somewhat of an urgency. I travelled through Europe to stay with friends in the South of Holland. After registering with the government to get our tax number, which is needed for everything in Holland, we managed to rent a property in a small town close to the Belgian border. The area is predominantly farmland and canals as you would expect in Holland. We are going to stay here for 12 months, then either move back to Ukraine, or maybe even stay here if we can find a suitable property, namely one with clear horizons all round. 😀

 

As far as astro imaging goes, it's good and bad news. The sky is pretty dark here, probably bortle 5/6. Not as dark as back in ukraine, but OK. The bad news is I can't do any astro imaging from this place, the property is surrounded by massive conifers. Ironically, we have been here 3 weeks now, and only 3 of those nights has been cloudy. I have never witnessed so many clear nights together.

 

Will keep everyone updated if I have any developments or good news regarding imaging.

I would have thought having to leave all your equipment in Ukraine is somewhat of a drawback too.  

But better to be safe than sorry.  Glad you are doing OK.

Yeah, it's not ideal Carole, but little I could do about it. Thankfully the astro gear is all safe with no damage to it, so hopefully can get it shipped out here soon.

I hope so too, but I'm going to be in Holland for at least 12 months.

Very glad to hear that you are OK and have somewhere to live.
As for the invasion of a sovereign nation that caused yor situation. I can only echo the sentiments of hundreds of millions of people throughout europe.
