Sterrenland
What a stunningly beautiful night it turned out to be last night...just after midnight the milky way was as clear as I've seen it for years. One of those nights when you try to take it all in. My target last night was comet C/2017 K2 lowish in the south-east and my first attempt to grab a comet with my scope and camera using the Asiair Pro. I'm loving the new Sky Atlas feature as an aid to framing an image. Guiding on stars I got about 140mins of data using 180s lights. Processing the images was a whole new experience using CometAlignment in Pixinsight....so the image is rather rough and ready, but it was useful running through the general process. Think I'll watch a few more videos to pick up some more tips. Fascinating!
TerryMcK
Very nice. The greenish glow comes over well.
Nightspore
Nice comet. I thought it was spectacularly clear for an hour last night as well. Unfortunately I didn't take a scope out.
Greg M
I had hoped to image it last night. Drove 90 minutes to a dark sky site and just as the sun was sitting, the winds picked up. I waited till midnight hoping they would calm down, but never did. I did manage one platesolve 5 sec exposure that was all blurry and shaky. It was so bad that it wouldn't platesolve but at least I caught a glimpse of it. I think that makes either 23 or 24 comets for me to see or image.
