AstronomyUkraine
The new GHS, or GenereralizedHyberbolicStretch for Pixinsight is getting quite a lot of attention recently. I have watched a couple of YouTube video regarding the script, but haven't had chance to use it yet. The script is installed the usual way through a url in the repository. A link to the GHSastro website for more information is below. https://ghsastro.co.uk/information/ Edited August 1, 2022 by AstronomyUkraine
TerryMcK
I’ll have a look at that. Thanks for the heads up Brian.
TerryMcK
It is quite complicated to use and benefits from following the video linked to on the ghsastro website. It looks very good with great results if you play around.
Astrobdlbug
Terry, yes I agree that It is more complicated than a simple histogram or curves stretch, I started using GHS when it was released at beginning of the year and I definately thought that the capability to 'tune' the stretch especially when trying to push the fainter details down near the noise does make a difference. Also flattening the stretch curve with the highlights protection keeps the stars from being stretched too much as well. I used GHS on my Orion Mosaic and also the Flame nebula.
