Popular Post Astrobdlbug
Been quite a run of clear nights recently - a lot to see on the forum and a lot of sleep deprived astro-imagers, for once looking forward to some dull wet weather to catch up on some sleep,,,, Anyway as promised, way back in early August I kept going on IC1396 with my new scope, camera and 3nm filters, I will say that using the ASIAIR is transformative in terms of it works and is why I have been able to capture so much data. I set up the sequence and ASIAir does it all, yes I accept that I am trading some detailed control of each part of the aquisition system and not using features of more sophisticated aquisition packages - but for me,so far plate solving, meridian flips and camera control and data downloads have worked without a hitch, so I was able to program aquistion right through to very early hours 3-4am. Adding the zenith table to my Skyshed POD has also made the entire procedure to slide the dome to give visiblity of the zenith very simple. Anyway, the image : I used a combination of SHO and Coldest Nights ForaxX pixel math to generate the colour palette and then used Ha as effective luminance SUbs integrated using AstoPixel Processor, then used Pixinsight to process and GHS to stretch each channel integration. Finished off in PSCC to fine tune the colour balance and levels. I used a bit of NoiseExterminator - but not much as I did have a lot of hours of data for each channel I have also posted the AIP_SHO mix as well, let me know what you think and if you have a preference regards colour mix Bryan Acquisition details Dates: 5 Aug 2022 · 7 Aug 2022 · 8 Aug 2022 · 10 Aug 2022 · 11 Aug 2022 · 12 Aug 2022 · 20 Aug 2022 · 27 Aug 2022 · 28 Aug 2022 · 29 Aug 2022 Frames: Antlia 3nm Narrowband H-alpha 2": 114×300″(9h 30′) Antlia 3nm Narrowband Oxygen III 2": 151×300″(12h 35′) Antlia 3nm Narrowband Sulfur II 2": 148×300″(12h 20′) Integration: 34h 25′
TerryMcK
Stunning images Bryan and the more data you collected has paid off. My preference is the 1st image which seems to show more detail due to the colour mapping. Was the data collected with the AstroTech and the 1600MM? I was considering the ASIAIR for my portable rig as I am using the PI with EKOS at the moment as I am for all my rigs but can see the benefit of the AIR's control via a tablet, set it, then walk away and leave it to its own devices. All my cameras are ZWO so will work fine.

This was captured with my new rig: Imaging Telescopes : StellaMira 90mm ED Triplet Imaging Cameras : ZWO ASI2600MM Pro Mount : Sky-Watcher AZ-EQ6 GT Filters: Antlia 3nm Narrowband H-alpha 2" ; Antlia 3nm Narrowband Oxygen III 2" ; Antlia 3nm Narrowband Sulfur II 2" Accessories : StellaMira 2" 0.8x Reducer / Field Flattener ; ZWO EAF Software : Adobe Photoshop · Aries Productions Astro Pixel Processor (APP) · Pleiades Astrophoto PixInsight · ZWO ASIAIR Guiding Telescopes : William Optics UniGuide 50 Guiding Cameras : ZWO ASI290MM Mini I dont have a EFW yet, so I am just using a manual filter holder for the 2" filters - waiting to sell a few more bits of equipment before I invest in a 2" EFW - this was supposed to be a compact portable rig and in some respects it is given its capability, but its neary a 10Kg setup Bryan 2

However I am sure the UK weather will do its best to unravel this philosophy..... Bryan
mightymonoped
Beautiful images and a top notch setup Bryan. Completely agree about the ASIair too, it’s had a huge impact on my productivity, it just works. I’ve had a number of sessions now where I just get things setup and then go to bed. I do get up in the early hours to put the cover on the rig but that’s just UK weather. 😊
Sonyme
Superb Bryan. I'm with Terry as far as my favourite goes although I really like the black wisps of dust in the second image. Gary
P Holdsworth
Both are fabulous images Bryan. I would also say the first edges it just slightly but both are superb. ASI air is a cracking piece of kit especially with all the upgrades over the last two years.
