Iris and surrounding dust

That is an amazing image - dust clouds and dark nebula broadband - wonderful and gathered in 5hrs - you must benefit from some nice dark skies.

I also like your processing - if you used any noise reduction it’s been applied very lightly as the dust clouds have good definition and not been ‘mooshed’ by NR algorithms.

Thanks for that Bryan - I really appreciate the comments.

The map says I'm in bortle 4 but there is a sodium street light very close to where I set up. And the light dome from Galway (admittedly its not Las Vegas!) is about 20km to my west. But yes, its not so bad really.

On NR I use NoiseXterminator in Pxinsight but I am pretty gentle with it becuase the 2600mc is not a noisy camera.

Thanks again

David.

That's a lovely image, beautifully done.

Would love to have a go at some dust and dark nebula stuff but my view is obstructed for this target (and a lot of others) at the moment. Sounds like your conditions are similar to mine. The official rating is Bortle 4 but I have a lot of street/car park lights close by.
