Scopeman
Nearly fell off my chair, why is this Vixen half pier extension so damn expensive?! Anyone got a used one they want to sell?
TerryMcK
It does seem expensive at £850 for what is a hollow tube with flanges either end.
Nightspore
It is pretty solidly made though.
Scopeman
I saw that at £850, that is just ridiculous, most places sell it for £180-ish but even that is taking the mick tbh
Scopeman
Does anyone make an adaptor to go between a SW EQ6R Pro tripod to Vixen pillar/mount?
len2376
http://beaconhilltelescopes.org.uk/ might be able to help? I would have thought that the 'main' retailers might have linkups to suitable machine shops? e.g. Altair have their own range of adaptors so they must be made somewhere? For my own use I made a solid aluminium Gem45 to SW HEQ5 adaptor. Anyone with a lathe/mill would find it an easy task. But folk have also used 3D printed adaptors so long as there are steel bolts all the way through. Trivial for me to make I'm sure but under doc's orders at the moment so couldn't even lift an ali blank. Maybe try machinists on wherever they might hang out? Scopeman
Thanks, got sorted in the end. I don't know any engineers anymore, used to years ago but they have been a long time retired now.
