I originally won a prize at school (in the days when Pluto was a planet) and got a book of hobbies, one of which was astronomy. I got some other books on it as the interest grew and they all turned out to be written by the same author - I'm sure you can guess 😄 My granddad got me a refractor back then (60 0r 70mm??) and I remember seeing Saturn through it up in our small strip of sky in London. It looked like a hat floating in space, but I was awed. Life squeezed the hobby out, but the interest keeps resurfacing so I'm giving in to it.
