When to use/not use IR-cut filter for CMOS camera

Recommended Posts

Hi all - reading up on the Skyris 132C I picked up on a clearance, the use of an IR cut filter is recommended, presumably due to the characteristics of the chip itself.  They even sell one as an accessory.  Question - if I use it, is there anything I'll be missing/unable to capture?  Are there times where I might not want to use it?

thanks as always!

It will make images sharper. Without it you may get star bloat which isn’t attractive.

Good enough for me!  So basically just plan to keep that on the camera, in addition to whatever other filters I might choose to use?
