Dmack1
This is hopefully the start of a bigger project intended to be 4 panel mosaic of part of the Taurus Molecular Cloud. But my clear skys, and particularly clear moonless nights are so few and far between, that it could be a longer project than I'd like. So I decided to post up as I progress. This then is panel 1, it will be bottom right of the mosaic and holds the baby eagle nebula at top right. I only managed 6 hours and I think that for the fainter dust areas its going to need double that. But this is it so far. Sharpstar 61 EDPHII, ASI2600mc, L-pro filter. C&C Welcome as always.

Greg M
Great shot! So are you actually planning on trying for 12 hours x 4 panels?

Thanks Greg, I'd love to think I could get that and with the long nights we have here just now (about 11 hours dark tonight) it should be possible. But really with the shortage of clear skies in the West of Ireland that may be unrealistic. So I think I'll target 6 hours for each panel first then maybe add to it if we get clear runs later. But I find it really difficult to keep pouring more time into a subject if I've got something I'm reasonably happy with. There's just so much other cool stuff to image! So if I get 6 hours per, and its not awful, than I'll likely move on after that.
Astrobdlbug
I love broadband dark nebula - if this is just the beginning then wow, keep going and I hope you get enough dark moonless nights to see this through I think 6hrs per panel with ASI2600MC will do just fine , this first panel I think shows 6hrs is enough - it will be a stunning mosaic. Pragmatisim wins v's jet stream and atlantic low pressure systems. Bryan

MartinS
Eargerly awaiting the full mosaic. As you say given the skies at this time it might be a long wait, but it will be worth it.
