Greg M
StellarVue SV70T, ASI 2600MCPro, L-eXtreme Filter, iOptron CEM70EC mount Captured with NINA from my Bortle 8-9 backyard. Processed with PixInsight (My wife says I went overboard on the star reduction.) 62x 10min subs = 10hrs20mins And here's the original before the star reduction. Which do you prefer?
MartinS
While I am a fan of star reduction techniques, I prefer the second as the stars are tidy and don’t detract from the nebulosity.
Sonyme
I like them both Greg but isolating the nebula by reducing the appearance of the stars highlights the subject matter beautifully. I am a fan of this type of image and it's worth reminding ourselves that all processed astro images rely on the clever manipulation of both visible and invisible light waves. Ultimately it's all about what the photographer is trying to achieve and in this case two very interesting but equally striking images.
