don4l
I tried this last year, but I assumed that the Ha is much stronger than the OIII. So I only took 50m of Ha and 170m OIII. I've now managed to add another 90m Ha, and I'm now quite pleased with it.This is a crop from a larger frame, and it has also been scaled down to meet the file size limit.Tak FSQ106 with focal reducer. G2 16200 camera. Stacked and calibrated in CCDStack. Processed in Gimp.I tried to use Starnet on this, and for the first time it didn't work very well at all. It took out half of the nebulosity! Unfortunately, this means that the stars are a bit odd, so don't look too close.
AstronomyUkraine
Posted by: @don4l I tried to use Starnet on this, and for the first time it didn't work very well at all. I tried using starnet on the Eastern Veil nebula, it was a disaster. It seems starnet has a problem with filament type nebulosity.
don4l
@astronomyukraineThanks for that.I thought that I had done something wrong when I created the TIF file.

AstronomyUkraine
@don4l I tried a few times with no success using starnet. It works great on other images, just not the Veil, unfortunately.
Carastro
Looking good Don.I can't even use Starnet, it won't install on either my desk top or either of my laptop, tells me there is something missing. So I use Annies actions, which are also good for star reduction. I select the stars first expand and feather, and then apply the action once or twice. By selecting it doesn't affect the nebulosity.Carole

AstronomyUkraine
Posted by: @Carastro Stand alone, I don't use Pixinsight.I use the integrated version in Pixinsight, it seems some older computers don't have the architecture to run Starnet. If your PC has no AVX support, Starnet will not run.

Yesterday, for example, it just failed a few times. When I shut a bunch of other programs,it then ran fine.
AstronomyUkraine
Posted by: @don4l Your CPU supports instructions that this TensorFlow binary was not compiled to use: AVX2From what I gather, this is a warning that your machine could run faster using this application. Starnet is very CPU intensive, so closing down any other running programmes is recommended. There is a way of speeding up Starnet on your machine, but it only works on machines with an Nvidia graphics card. I tried it, and it works great. Carastro
Posted by: @AstronomyUkraine If your PC has no AVX support,I don't even know what AVX is, all I know is I have W10 on my Desktop. Anyway, Annie's actions works well enough for me.Carole
Hallingskies
@carastroit’s some sort of computery protocol, none of my Lenovo machines will run it, but my son’s computers do. He’s back at uni (for now...) so I have to email him files to “Starnet” for me!
