GazAstro
Hi all, thanks for looking ! really nothing special but I'm getting my head around narrowband / SHO imaging. The Ha was good but the Oii and Sii were very weak (nearly a full moon)1 hr Ha, 1 hr 25 mins Oii and 1 hr 10 mins Sii all in 300 sec subs

Dmack1
Ha! I thought I was the only one who saw it as a PterodactylNice image, great detail in the Ha.
GazAstro
@David, definitely a pterodactyl ?To improve on the Oiii and Sii would I be better off just adding subs to increase total integration or try going for 600 second subs ? paulgrover68
I wasn't seeing the pterodactyl. Now I can't stop seeing it. It does look awesome.
MarkAR
Posted by: @GazAstro To improve on the Oiii and Sii would I be better off just adding subs to increase total integration or try going for 600 second subs ?Longer subs would help especially if you can get them without the moon around. If you get moonless ones then I would be tempted to just use those and not the ones with loads of moon glow.
GazAstro
Cheers Mark, I did wonder if the moon was effecting the Oii and Sii subs. Seems that Ha is the real LP killer with O and S coming in a reasonable 2nd and 3rd.
Jkulin
Hi Gary, just a small pointer, I would drop the deconvolution and go easier on the noise reduction. You have a nice balance on the colours.Hope that helps?
GazAstro
Cheers John still very much a beginner on the processing ?Stacked in DSS, all adjustments made in Photoshop ... Levels, curves, RGB/SHO Combined and selective colour. Had to massively reduce noise on the Oiii and Sii as very heavily streched. Not sure what deconvolution is but sounds like a Pixinsight jobby. Jkulin
Posted by: @GazAstro Not sure what deconvolution is but sounds like a Pixinsight jobby.Yes it is Gary, it is used to reduce star size/shapes, but is often over done creating similar stars as yours. As for noise reduction, I would rather leave some in than go overboard, with my polluted skies I know how far I can go without damaging the image.HTH
