Astrodad
Have to say after being a long time user of APT I was tempted by N.I.N.A as they use the SDK for both my QHY and Altair Astro Cameras whilst APT only uses the Ascom driver for the QHY. I was very wary of having to learn a whole new programme and set up but I've been so surprised just how easy it was to set up and get running . Have to say I'm extremely impressed with NINA
MarkAR
From what I've seen it's a pretty comprehensive piece of automation control. Shame it's windows only.

GazAstro
I've dabbled with N.I.N.A. but keep going back to APT.I just can't get my head around the layout ... It seems to have duplicates of tabs ?
AstronomyUkraine
Posted by: @Carastro Anyone know if there is a beginners guide to Nina?Check out Cuiv the Lazy Geek on Youtube. Carastro
@astronomyukraineI think I took a look at that previously but found it difficult to see what he was doing as the screen details were too small.Carole
AstronomyUkraine
I followed the tutorials OK, but I'm loath to change from SGP, I have it running great for my setup, and don't want to waste time learning new software. The interface is quite good, but I also like Voyager as well, that is another free software, with the reputation for great autofocusing. Mick L
Tried it last night for the first time but couldn't work my way around it. I particularly didn't like the framing module not a patch on SGP. Not sure yet if I will have another go.
Padraic M
I've switched to NINA from APT purely for the autofocus routine which is killer. That motivated me to get my head around NINA as otherwise I would have been tempted back to APT (familiarity, and it's not a bad piece of software). All of those tabs are configurable, you can switch them on/off, reposition them etc. I agree it's a bit confusing but worth sticking with. There's a certain discipline required, but the workflow from Sky Atlas->Framing->Sequence->Imaging does work. Or just pick a target in Stellarium/CdC and load the coordinates directly from the Sequence screen. On 11/10/2020 at 10:28 AM, Carastro said: Anyone know if there is a beginners guide to Nina? Carole the documentation on the main web page isn't bad for the basics. For anything more advanced, the developers on the NINA discord are exceptionally helpful and quick to respond, so definitely install the discord client. I've no experience with SGP or Voyager so can't compare NINA with those. 2

I haven't seen any other software come close to it, especially for rotating the camera.
