Popular Post Carastro
As I am doing a few repeated images now, where possible I am trying to combine the data together as I never get a chance to do as much data each time due to weather and time at location etc. So I think combined this will be the most data I have collected for one target @ just over 13 hours.The differing FOVs necessitated a rotate and Crop.Data from 2020 Taken in Bortle 8 (Home)SW Esprit100 and Atik460EXData from 2015 Taken in Bortle 4 Kelling HeathDual Rig SW ED120/Atik460EXSW ED80/Atik314LBoth on HEQ5Ha (2020 - 28 x 600) + (2015 - 22 x 600) total 50 x 600 = 8 hours 20mOiii (2020 - 18 x 300 binned) + (2015 - 4 x 600) = total 2h 10mSii (2020 – 18 x 300 binned) + (2015 – 7 x 600) = total 2h 40mTotal imaging time = 13hours 10minshttps://cdn.astrobin.com/thumbs/lyjDnE-5ArQk_1824x0_O3Qyqi6r.jpg

AstronomyUkraine
Posted by: @Gina I might have the Bortle 4 skies Carole but you seem to have more clear skies!!! I visited a friend of mine some years back. He lives in Shoebrook, a small village about 25km north of Exeter. I have no idea what the Bortle scale is for that area, but the Milky Way was clearly visible, not just a murky streak in the sky. The only light pollution I recall, came from the direction of Exeter, North, East and West, the sky was pitch black. Only skies I saw so dark since, were in Australia, and South Africa.
Carastro
Sounds like a place in the Exmoor National Park, yes it's a designated dark sky site.Carole
Gina
Exmoor seems "so near yet so far" but the weather isn't that much different from here.
Carastro
I stayed for a week a few years ago in Exmoor NP, but on the North coast. Took all my astro gear with me, and never took it out of the car it was cloudy all week.Carole
