Hannahgrace
Hey guys! So I finished the whole veil nebula project the other day! It is a 2 panel mosaic, in HOO palette, over 60 hours split across each filter, and each panel, over 27 nights/mornings, over the course of 3 months! It does get frustrating only imaging the same thing for such a long time, but it feels so good when it all comes together! This is my first mosaic, and I was so scared (as always, overreacting). I hope you like it! Thank you! Link to hi-res version on AstroBin- https://www.astrobin.com/cmz9rd/ veilnebula.tif

Astrobdlbug
A captivating image, the detail in the filaments is fantastic. Absolutely encourage other to view on AstroBin or download the Tif file - so much to explore in this image. The long integration of 60hrs certainly has paid off particularly the very faint hydrogen nebulosity that surrounds the edges of this super nova remnant - overall an exceptional image of this popular target - hope your 'Top Pick Nomination' progresses 🙂 Bryan

RaDec
Utterly stunning image Hannah - the level of depth and detail is jaw-dropping. Looks like another APOD to me. Spending 6 hours is dedication, let alone 60! I presume you have an observatory, but where did you buy your cloud gun? I really need one!! Congratulations!

Aww that is a lovely comment, thank you ever so much. It was really exciting seeing that faint hydrogen come out when I stacked it! Thank you for looking at the higher res version too 🙏🏼 I really appreciate it! 🙂 Hannah

I’m going to try and get 30 hours of Sii next year to add to it 🙂

Aww thank you so much!!!!!! That’s SO kind!!!! 😄 I rarely go below 30 hours with narrowband 🙂 I don’t have an observatory, I set up and take down every time I image, and I never leave it unattended as I’m scared of random rain haha. I’m a bit crazy, and VERY tired most of the time 😂 ❤️
mightymonoped
Astonishing detail in the full size image Hannah! You have really got that little Tak performing wonders, well done. Not least of which for the determination and application to do that repeatedly without a permanent observatory setup. Not only is the capture exemplary, but the processing is first class too, pulling out all the wonderful detail, both subtle and deft. The output is a fitting tribute to the effort and attention you have put into this outstanding image. Tony

I can visually see bits of the Veil (east and west) with a small refractor and an OIII filter. I was surprised and happy to catch it as late as September after over a year's hiatus from astronomy due to ill health. Padraic M
A really fantastic result Hannah, one of the best I've seen, but I'm still stuck on '60 hours over 3 months'. Lucky you!

I was so scared of processing a mosaic for the first time but it really wasn’t as bad as I thought. Need to try 4 panels now 😂 thank you again for what you’ve said, almost made me cry!!!! So lovely 😊 Hannah

Lucky you! Thanks ever so much Padraic! Yep aha I was lucky! My Abell 85 was 70 hours and took 3 months over winter. I cancel plans if it’s clear usually, and I’m out as soon as astronomical twilight hits 😂😅😂

I've only ever been visual, even as a schoolboy when all I had were my dad's Carl Zeiss Jena 8x30 wide angle binoculars lol.
