Popular Post Carastro
Been wanting to do this one for years, but it is a challenge due to it's size and it's dimness. The Samyang lens fits it well, but not Bortle 8, but decided I'd give it a go anyway. I did take some Oiii but it is too faint to be of any use. It was also a processing challenge.Ha 21 x 600RGB 5 x 150 eachSamyang lens 135mm @ f2.8HEQ54 hours HaRGBhttps://cdn.astrobin.com/thumbs/LAC1J-ebrjPj_1824x0_rhUCYM0P.jpg

Dmack1
You've got a lot in that it looks great. Whenever I see images of this target I always end up wondering at the forces of nature that have produced something so complex and intricate but on a scale that we struggle to appreciate. Great image Carole.

Astrobdlbug
That is a great result Carole, I agree it is one tricky subject, I am only working on Ha and after last night's session working with 8hrs of data now and still its difficult to get structure balanced against the incredibly dense star field.Bryan
TerryMcK
It shows what can be achieved with decent filters in the awful light polluted skies we have in urban areas surrounding big cities. Great work Carole and 147 is on my hit list too.
Carastro
Thanks, I had said i wasn't going to spend any more time on this, but perhaps it might be worth taking a bit more data to smooth out the spaghetti threads, I'll take a look at some of the images taken longer and from better locations and see what is possible.Carole
Carastro
Posted by: @Astrobdlbug That is a great result Carole, I agree it is one tricky subject, I am only working on Ha and after last night's session working with 8hrs of data now and still its difficult to get structure balanced against the incredibly dense star field.I must confess my result as it stands was due to processing techniques, if I had simply stretched with levels and curves, not much would have been seen. I used the equalize function in photoshop to bring out the fainter structures. Carole
