AstronomyUkraine
My rig is quite heavy, and I don't have an observatory. So each imaging session the OTA is removed from the mount, and placed on a chair while I carry the mount outside. The reverse takes place after each session. This worked fine until recently, when I noticed the adapter plate on my focuser had worked loose. I suspected that I had inadvertently rested the OTA on the focuser when placing it on a chair. To remedy this problem, I designed a stand to hold the OTA while carrying the mount outside. It's not to be used as a permanent resting place, just to hold the OTA for a few minutes. Below is the stand with and without the OTA on it. OCD fans look away, it's not a pretty sight. ?With the OTA resting on it.
Carastro
Why don't you get a mount on wheels, so you can wheel it in and out already assembled.Carole

AstronomyUkraine
Posted by: @Gina I have an electric hoist to lift heavy imaging rigsonto my mount.Sounds cool, my OTA is only 10kg maximum, so it's not a problem to carry it the 10 yards to my observing position.
