TerryMcK
IC59 and IC63https://imgur.com/a/1MW42dfI started this January 1st 2021 and initially got around 12 hours of RGB. Then on January 3rd I got just over 3.6 hours of Ha to add to the image.Telescope: William Optics ZS103 with x0.8 flattener/reducerCamera1: ZWO ASI183MC OSC 105 RGB subs at 6 minute duration. Gain 111. Offset 8Camera2: ZWO ASI183MM Mono 36 Ha subs at 6 minute duration. Gain 111. Offset 8Processed with APP and PixInsightThe blue is particularly difficult to get more data on as apparently it is carbon which is reflecting star light. The picture looks much better as a TIF rather than a jpg but IMGUR.com only allows smallish files. My tif is 80MB!Anybody know of a decent website that hosts astro images that you don't have to pay for?

The only site I know that hosts images, besides Astrobin, is making your own, and it's free with wordpress.org The maximum file size upload on a site I made for my wife is 200mb. Padraic M
Posted by: @TerryMcK Anybody know of a decent website that hosts astro images that you don't have to pay for?Hi Terry, do you compress your tifs? You could prepare a version for hosting by flattening the image, and exporting with LZW or CCITT Group 4 compression. They're both lossless so there's no drop in quality. I've just reduced one image from 250MB uncompressed to 14MB compressed using LZW.

TerryMcK
I've just done some more star reduction on the Ghost Nebula using PI Morphological Transformation using the Erosion operator and a diamond pattern - 2 iterations. I also reduced the background a little to contrast the nebula. Again jpgs are rubbish and diminish the detail but hey ho.
AstronomyUkraine
Posted by: @TerryMcK Again jpgs are rubbish and diminish the detail but hey ho.I have been playing around with converting TIFFS to WebP files, using a Photoshop plugin found here. The installation folder they suggest, does not work. Install the plugin in the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop 2021\Required\Plug-ins\File Formats.I used the plugin on full sized TIFFS, 84 Mb in size. I used 100% lossless settings, and the resulting file was 11Mb in size. The plugin only works on 8bit files, so 16bit need converting first. The plugin is very useful for reducing file sizes, without loss of data. The only drawback with WebP files, they can only be opened on a browser, or with Photoshop.Brian
