Just a quick taster on M45 with my new Altair Astro 26c

I managed the other night to grab 23 x 240s on M45 with my new 26C and my iOptron 40EC that I had never used before, I hadn't used my Esprit 100 for a couple of years, but thought it was too good an opportunity to miss.

As I say, this isn't finished, I am hoping to grab a few hours this evening, but I am gobsmacked with such little data how easy this has been, and processing in PI was a cinch, it was like talking candy from kids.

This was just a quick process to see what I had: -

Hopefully will grab some more this evening then try and get it processed later this week.

That is excellent for such a short duration, you have sold me on the benefits of an APS-C OSC. Did you use any filters?

I've tried getting M45 over the years with a DLSR getting very mixed results mainly down to lack of patience, trees and general poor seeing at this time of year. I'll share my latest less than stellar results in another thread.

Superb image especially with a relatively short amount of data. It's clearly a very sensitive camera .

It is Paul, I am very impressed so far.

Certainly processing is far easier and for colour not requiring any NB then I think it is potentially superior to CCD.

I now need to see how the Mono 26 will perform.

I gathered another 25 images from M45 this evening and it is already banging away at M42, I think it is a very long while since I have ever been able to produce multiple targets in a night.

Thanks Carole and Bob, I managed another 25 subs last night, not sure how good as the moon was bit on the boastful size, I managed to grab a few more on M42, so will see what that processes up like as well.
