Popular Post paulgrover68
My second image of 2021... I setup under amazingly clear skies. Then cloud started to appear. It was significant but broken. Rather than do someting too different I decided to pick a bright target that had already crossed the meridian. I also thought I'd jump out of my comfort zone of unity gain and go a little higher. I guessed if the clouds were around I should at least be able to grab some shorter exposures and then shoot the core seperately. Once I started imaging the imaging I was constantly pausing the plan as clouds go in the way - out of a planned 35 exposures I ended up with 27 (three starlink trains and a sneaky couple of clouds). It took me 3 hours to grab grab those frames. The clouds closed in before I could get the core. I'm going to say it was a diffinite improvement on the night before, when I had rapidly pack up due to a sudden hailstorm. Looking at the forecast, it look like cloud for another week. I think all the cloud that came up from the south west before xmas is now coming back over from the north east!

paulgrover68
Thanks everyone - I was so pleased just to get an image it feels good to have pulled so much detail out of quite limited data.

paulgrover68
Thanks - I learned a lot with this image both with acquisition and processing. I'm going to be honest and say it was fun dodging the clouds and timing exposures to fit into gaps. While I would want to do it every week it was quite an amusing session.
