Some Monkey Business going on in Orion

Here we are again -聽 after my Tadpole Nebula (declared last image of season 馃檮) , here is the next last nebula image of the season.....

This week the skies cleared for a few hours on Tuesday and Wednesday, the transparency was not that great, especially on Wednesday and as the winter nebula聽 fade westwards into the atmospheric haze and light pollution from the many distribution sheds in Northampton imaging time is quite limited - basically 8pm - 11pm give or take 30mins.

That being said, these new Antlia 3nm filters do seem to be quite resilliant to the LP and surprisingly the atmospheric haze does not seem to have resulted in any fuzzy stars .

I managed to pull down 2 hrs Ha and 1hr each of Oiii and Sii,聽 total 4 hrs Integration over two eveings.

Processed with APP / Pixinsight / Photoshop CC

NGC 2174 is approx 6,500 light year distant

I have posted the full frame , slight edge crop to remove stacking artifacts and then a closer crop as the image seems to聽 support the crop.

I also rotated the frame 90deg to make the monkey head more apparent in this nebula (sometime I see it clearly and then it dissapears)

That's come out really well. I love this target, especially when done in this palette.

Thanks,聽 and interesting what you say about the palette - as I tried to mix this like the rosette image I did a few weeks back which had more of a brown influence, but it really didnt look right - it just bias itself toward the SHO - it may be as there is quite a lot of Oiii signal and more Sii than Rosette, relatively....
