Padraic M
Weather has reverted to normal programming for the next while, so I took out some data that I had badly processed from the New Year, at a Bortle 2 dark sky location. CO SQI is 21.97 mag, compared to 18.04 Bortle 8 at my current location. Definitely dark skies are 'cheat mode' 🙂. Everything is so much easier. M33 Triangulum galaxy, 3rd Jan 2021. Image comprises: 10x120s Red 10x120s Green 10x120s Blue all Baader filters 4x300s Ha Baader 3.5nm Darks, flats and darkflats all applied. Processed in APP as LHaRGB, using synthetic lum from all channels. No gradient removal was required! Heaven! As usual, equipment was: Esprit 80, ASI1600MM Pro @ -20c, gain139; AA Starwave 50mm guidescope; ASI290mm mini. HEQ5 belt mod and rebuilt. Guiding with PHD2 multi-star. Mount control and sequencing with NINA. Autofocus with PLL Sesto Senso.

Thanks - I had originally processed this 'by hand' in Gimp and hadn't done it justice. I reprocessed it today using APP and it just flew through the stages - no need for gradient removal or background calibration. It was a joy to do, compared to what I've been doing in the city in the last few weeks with all the light pollution. 38 minutes ago, paul said: That's the best M33 I have seen for some time, lots of detail👍 High praise Paul! I can't wait to get back to dark skies again.
Carastro
Great work, I can't seem to acquire a bigger image of it. Yes having dark skies all the time, those that have them don't know how lucky they are. Processing data from LP skies can be a nightmare.
