ChrisH
I’m finding a lot of my subs (roughly 25% to 33%) are affected by satellite trails at the moment. I don’t think they are all Starlink but presumably some must be. Is anyone else finding this, or have I just been unlucky?! What’s going on!? I know I can reject them in stacking, for example using kappa sigma averaging, but I actually seem to get a better SNR (and more effectively reject the streaks too) by not stacking affected frames at all and using a straightforward average instead.
MarkAR
Just luck, wrong target on the wrong night. I sometimes have the same. If you have plenty go good subs that you can leave out the satellite ones then you probably will have a better image. Sometimes though you just have to stack them, low number of subs with cloudy nights and your target disappearing...
