ALTAIR nickaltair Posted June 28, 2022 ALTAIR Share Posted June 28, 2022 Hi there, Altair 4nm Dual Band CERTIFIED CMOS filters are in stock, and shipping now. Each filter comes with an individual spectrographic test report. Just like our telescopes with optical test reports. OD blocking, bandwidth and transmission are ideal for "extreme" light pollution, full moon, and imaging in summertime. Optimized for F4.8 or slower. For example, they're ideal for an F6.0 refractor with 0.8x reducer, or anything slower.
Tropicalnights
Are these filters distributed anywhere in the USA?

Yes, Land Sea and Sky sell Altair Astro products in the USA. I'm not sure if they're on the website yet, but a call should get you a price - they order regularly. BucketDave
How much detail does the certificate provide ? If it covers the full range from 400 to 700 nm, that won't give much confience in the accuracy around the centre wavelength because 3 nm is just 1% of the range) If the test report also showed a second graph zoomed in around the centre wavelength, say +/- 25 nm, that would provide a lot more confidence in the filter performance. As an engineer, I'd be happy to buy this product rather than a competitors if its test report can demonstrate that its performance matches the design intent. Dave Cundy, Bristol Hi Dave, well we printed these out across the full range which is the convention, but if you like, when you order, you can request a report showing 25nm data for each peak for your filter at .5nm res. We'll charge £25 for the extra work. I'm sure you'll like this filter. The performance is excellent according to customer feedback so far. You can ask real world owners about this filter in the Altair Facebook group here too.
