This popped up into my Youtube feed about Jack Newton in Arizona. Now this must be any astronomers dream observatory. The "small" one he has at home is part of his house and has a concrete block pillar that goes from the 16 foot hand made dome all the way through the lower floor presumably into bedrock.

Both observatories are really spectacular
