KirkD
I have a Celestron Evolution Nextstar 9.25 and have installed a Celestron ring heater that goes around the outside of the front glass element. I imagine that the temperature of the glass is not even, with the outer diameter being warmer than the center. How does this affect the telescope's resolution at the higher magnifications I use for planets?
Carbon Brush
Good quality glass has a very low thermal expansion. I forget the actual numbers. You aren't after heating the glass until it is warm or hot. You only need enough to prevent dew formation. A few degrees. So in conclusion, not a problem.
